Yellow Hair 2 attracted much public interest right from the beginning of the shooting, just as Ha Ri Su herself
has always been a focus of media attention, because of her gender, in Korea and even other Asian cities. A sequel to the controversial
Yellow Hair,
Yellow Hair 2 stirred up even more discussion in Korea when it was screened in 2001. Starring the
transgender singer-actress Ha Ri Su, the film will reveal to its audience the psyche and internal struggle of a transsexual
woman. Instead of a voyeuristic depiction a transgender's sex life, director Kim You Min explores the life of a transsexual
woman in general through this film.
J (Ho Ri Su), a transgender woman, works as a courier during the day and a club singer at night. She falls insanely in
love with a baseball player. Facing his parents's tenacious disapproval, she flees to a convenient store one night. Y (Shim
Yi) is a girl working in that store who is often abused by her bosses. The whole purpose of her life is to make money and
become a famous actress. R is a film school student who wanders around the city with his camcorder to make a documentary.
He walks into Y's store and sees J smashing the head of Y's boss with a bottle. Three total strangers run away together for
seemingly no reason, and their lives become intertwined ever since...
