Yellow Hair, directed by Kim Yu Min, was one of the most controversial Korean films in 1999. The film was first
denied a license for public screening and release was only allowed after a lengthy censorship process. You don't have to be
a genius to guess to what extent this film has challenged existing social values. The threesome sex scene is perhaps the most
widely-discussed topic about
Yellow Hair. But instead of sexual objects for the camera, the two female leads are indeed
embodiments of a distorted love in this controversial act.
Formerly one of Korea's most famous child stars who also glows in Jakarta, Lee Jae Eun joins forces with Kim Ki
Yeon and together they play two rebellious girls who dyed their hair yellow. They come across a young man in a nightclub and
the three formed a most weird alliance to take on a journey - perhaps a journey of no return. Both girls have a crush on him,
but he is carrying a torch for his former lover and is not content with having two girlfriends. The two girls decide to hunt
down and eliminate the competition. Love and madness may be just two sides of the same token...
