WU YEN

Cheung Wu Yen (Sammi Cheng) is a gifted female warrior she excels in military strategy and is an expert at martial arts. However, she is born with a large birthmark which covers half of her face. Through her birth rights, Wu Yen is married to the emperor (Anita Mui plays dual male and female roles). Prophecy has it that Wu Yen is a Goddess who is sent to earth to protect the emperor and bring prosperity to the Chinese dynasty. The Emperor, however, is a cowardly loser who doesnt care about his duties as the King and would rather spend his time with his younger bride, beautiful Xia (Cecilia Cheung). But when he runs into trouble with other warring nations, he would always beg the capable, but less physically attractive Wu Yen to bail him out.
