The storyline is an eastern fairytale with a western accent. The ruler of Garasa Castle abandons his son Amechiyo (Odagiri Joe from Bright Future, currently the hottest young actor in Japan) on a sacred mountain, alarmed by a prophecy which says that his son will become more beautiful than he is. But the boy is rescued by an enigmatic, Chinese-speaking woman (Zhang Ziyi, who else?) and they fall in love. She, of course, is a raccoon princess in human guise, and their amour fou faces one obstacle after another...
