Jeong Seong Hwan
Han Yeo Reum
SYNOPSIS:
Screened at the
Cannes Film Festival, The Bow tells the story of an old man (Jeong Seong Hwan, from
Ogu) who has been raising a young girl (Han Yeo Reum, from Samaritan Girl) since she was just a child. The two live on a boat in the middle of the sea under harsh but happy conditions, seemingly
waiting for the day when the young girl will be of legal age so that the old man can marry her.
In the meantime, in order to
make a living, the old man charters the boat to fishermen and, with the young girl’s assistance, uses his bow to read
people’s fortunes. But everything changes when a handsome young man shows
up on the ship… Will the old man still have his way? Or will the bloom
of young love be too powerful to control?
