Lim is a high-ranking North Korean agent working in East Germany, who defects and narrowly escapes by climbing over the Berlin Wall in 1980. He is met by South Korean agents, who safely return him to Korea, and take him to the South Korean CIA. When it is decided that he is telling the truth, he is given a job with the CIA.

However, Lim is in fact a remarkably well trained double agent, who has gone to great lengths to reach this point. He patiently works for his "new" country, as he awaits orders from another agent buried deep in South Korea. But as his time in South Korea continues, the black and white lines he has been trained to follow begin to smudge and turn grey.
