SYNOPSIS:
Based on an Internet serial novel and taking place over a number of years,
this award-winning film (Stanley Kwan won the Golden Horse best director prize) tells the story of Chen Handong, a wealthy
businessman who seems to have life figured out. He flits from one relationship to the next, passing time until the day comes
when he will marry and have children.
Until the story begins and he meets Lan Yu, that is. Lan Yu is a poor student
who wakes up "the morning after" a night with Handong and finds that everything is different for him. As the story progresses,
the parallels between their relationship and the changes in modern-day China become clear.
