The idea of the lead characters in a romantic comedy beginning as antagonists
and then developing feelings for one another is well established. Although this film follows that same basic pattern, it avoids
clichés and instead focuses on depicting realistic people undergoing changes in their lives.
A bank employee (Sol Kyung-gu from Peppermint Candy) is hopelessly devoted
to the idea of marriage, but he has pre-set ideas about his ideal mate. So he is not very open to a tentative advance from
a teacher (Jeon Do-yeon from Happy End). And why should he be? Hes already been rather oblivious to her presence on the various
occasions when theyve bumped into one another by chance. But things in his life change, and soon enough their roles are reversed
and they are drawn closer together.
The destination of the story may seem predetermined, but the journey does
not proceed in ways you might anticipate. The production values and direction (by first-timer Park Heung-shik) are top-notch.
Its not a noisy and slick star vehicle; instead it relies on the actors and story to draw in the viewer.
